Revolution, my friends, is not just a word. It represents the essence of change, the audacity to question the status quo, and the courage to challenge societal norms. It is about breaking free from the chains that bind us and envisioning a future that is more just, inclusive, and equitable.

Art, music and dance lets us reimagine the world we live in. They have power to challenge oppressive systems, amplify marginalised voices, mobilise communities and envision new possibilities of life and society. Activism and revolution is not confined to the streets or the political arena. The immaterial arts of song and dance are some of the most powerful tools rooted in activism coming directly from the gut – through voice and body. By bringing us together, breaking down barriers, reclaiming spaces – we build bridges of belonging, compassion and solidarity.

Come dance and sing, let us remember that we are not just spectators but active parts in this revolution. Let's dance, create and love with passion, create purpose and stand together in our commonalities and in our differences as we rewrite the narrative, challenge the status quo and reimagine the queer utopia.

Asterisk and Comrades INC. invites you to come discuss, learn and party with us at Bergen Kjøtt Friday 26th and Saturday 27th January.

SATURDAY PROGRAMME
18:20 - 20:00: Waacking workshop with Habibitch!
Born in California in the 60’s, the originally called « punking » dance was created in black and brown gay clubs, the only place where a very unpopular form of music at the time was listened to: disco.

This social dance comes from the mix of the inspirations of the people who created it, black people, Latinx and Asians: jazz, salsa and afro-descendant dances, as it is very rooted in a danced form of resistance against racism. It also find its inspiration in old-school fashion icons and attitudes, as the gay movement it represents.

Whacking is consequently an affirmation dance, where your identities can become flamboyant statements on the dancefloor!

Join us for an introduction to waaking by dancer and activist Habibitch!
