Revolution, my friends, is not just a word. It represents the essence of change, the audacity to question the status quo, and the courage to challenge societal norms. It is about breaking free from the chains that bind us and envisioning a future that is more just, inclusive, and equitable.

Art, music and dance lets us reimagine the world we live in. They have power to challenge oppressive systems, amplify marginalised voices, mobilise communities and envision new possibilities of life and society. Activism and revolution is not confined to the streets or the political arena. The immaterial arts of song and dance are some of the most powerful tools rooted in activism coming directly from the gut – through voice and body. By bringing us together, breaking down barriers, reclaiming spaces – we build bridges of belonging, compassion and solidarity.

Come dance and sing, let us remember that we are not just spectators but active parts in this revolution. Let's dance, create and love with passion, create purpose and stand together in our commonalities and in our differences as we rewrite the narrative, challenge the status quo and reimagine the queer utopia.

Asterisk and Comrades INC. invites you to come discuss, learn and party with us at Bergen Kjøtt Friday 26th and Saturday 27th January.

FRIDAY PROGRAMME
17:00 - 19:00: Vocal workshop with artist Uroish!
Uroish will introduce us to their playful approach to political and soulful songwriting. Through a series of vocal warm-ups and creating short melodies, you will be invited to build a space to foster expressions of revolt using your voice in any genre! This could be rap, noises, spoken words, conversation, song – feelings and tones that come from within you!

In preparation, participants will be asked to bring with them between 30s to 1min of music, words, noise related to the topic to use as a starting point. The focus is finding new forms of empowerment and rebellion – revolutionaries, shy singers and beginners are very welcome!

To sign up: write a few sentences about who you are, why you want to take part and if you have any accessibility needs: asterisk.bergen[a]gmail[dot]com

20:00: Talk about art and activism, conversation with Habibitch, Uroish and Vjolla Emiri from Salam.
How does art and activism depend on each other? How are artists and activists leading the revolution to this day? “dance is the artistic, non-verbal action that I adopt to “decolonize the dance floor” - Habibitch

Hang out and snacks until 23:00!
