Mer info:
For our next Vers Libre Salon we are excited to welcome xwélmexw (Stó:lō/Skwah First Nation) writer and artist Dylan Robinson for a presentation of his work followed by a conversation and audience Q&A with Peter Meanwell, Artistic Director of Borealis – a festival for experimental music.
Dylan Robinson’s work seeks to prioritize Indigenous resurgence through writing, curation and arts practice. As an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, his work includes a documentary film on the appropriation of Indigenous song and misrepresentation of Indigenous culture in Canadian classical music created in collaboration with Neven Lochhead and Nick Dangeli (Nisga’a), and the award-winning book Hungry Listening that focuses on Indigenous and settler colonial practices of listening.
Dylan is visiting Bergen as part of the seminar series CHROMATICS - a project that investigates different practices, perspectives and pedagogies linked to diversity in arts education. Since autumn 2022, the project has held several seminars across art, music and design for academic staff and students linked to practical-pedagogical education (PPU) at the Faculty of Art, Music and Design (KMD)/UiB and beyond.
The seminars in 2024 are a collaboration between Vers Libre, Borealis & project group/KMD (Sondre Närva Pettersen, Knut Jonas Sellevold & Anna Svingen-Austestad).
The Vers Libre Salon series is kindly supported by Bergen Kommune and Vestland fylkeskommune.
