In connection with his performance at the Bulldozer event at Østre later that evening, SmalPrat returns with an engaging conversation with Takuro Mizuta Lippit. Takuro has been active in live electronic music for many years, both as an artist but also as a curator, researcher, artistic director, and educator. Our conversation touches upon many aspects of his practice. SmalPrat will take place in the cafe at Bergen Kjøtt from 12:00 to 13:30, after which we will have to make our way to the soundcheck at Østre.
dj sniff
dj sniff (Takuro Mizuta Lippit) is turntablist, curator and producer, who works in experimental electronic arts and improvised music. Sniff combines DJing, instrument design and free improvisation. His work engages with diverse forms of sonic media, ranging from archival collections of vinyl records to real-time digitally captured sounds during performances. His work often involves a combination of turntables and software instruments, many of which he developed at STEIM, where he worked as an artistic director for many years. Currently he is based in Tokyo and Los Angeles.
