These sessions are organised as gatherings to listen and discuss together all genres of self-made music, at whatever stage of completion - unreleased, un-mixed, tests, demos or re-found tracks.
This listening session is a supportive and collective space to listen and discuss new music. Come with new music to share - or open ears ready to listen.

For this event, we have invited sound artist and DJ Ida Nerbø to talk about her practice and present a new work.

Ida Nerbø is a sound artist and DJ currently based in Bergen. With a background from the club and techno scene, her performances tend to delve deep into the dark, murky realms of sound, aiming to hypnotize and create tension. The last months Nerbø has been researching projects that are an extension of the practice as a club performer, looking to take the experiences of music as a physical affair into new domains. Current focus includes noise escapades, witch craft ambient, and collaborations with performance artists and light designers.

For golden jar, Nerbø will present her piece "Chain Supply" (as shown at the group exhibition BYOHP: Numinous Beginnings at Lydgalleriet i Bergen 20/21). In this work she explores an intense and raw soundscape, with field recordings of chains, circular saws and traffic. She will talk about the work, show the project file and discuss some general concepts/ideas for production that were used for this piece (software: Ableton).

golden jar: golden jar er et rom for ny musikk og samarbeid - skap for å støtte opp under kunstnere som utfordrer grensene på sine egne premisser. golden jar ønsker å sette fokus på kvinner, ikke-binære og transpersoner som jobber på og utenfor scenen, foran og bak kulissene. Det er et felleskap som oppmuntrer til samarbeid, nettverksbygging, kunnskapsdeling og åpner for nye arbeider.
golden jar avholder flere utvekslingskvelder i året, inspirert av lyttekvelden holdt av Konsept X og det London-baserte kvinnelige & ikke-binære DJ-kollektivet Synaptic Island i 2018.

Leyla is a UK-based illustrator, producer and curator. She has worked with clients including Black Girl Fest, BBC, Greater London Assembly and Tate. A founding member and Art Director of gal-dem magazine, she now works as a freelance illustrator, curator as well as a producer at Create London.
